Hishammuddin Hussein says he will be keeping a close eye on Mat Sabu and his work at the Defence Ministry. – August 8, 2018.

PAKATAN Harapan’s “honeymoon period” since taking over the government is over, said former Barisan Nasional minister Hishammuddin Hussein.

The former defence minister said he would be intensely scrutinising his successor Mohammad Sabu, also known as Mat Sabu, from now on.

“The honeymoon period is over. Now, I’m going to make my views heard, starting with the policy on Saudi Arabia and (Putrajaya’s) position on the King Salman Centre for International Peace (KSCIP).

“There a lot more issues with regard to assets and welfare of our soldiers and their families and veterans,” Hishammuddin said at the Parliament lobby today.

“I feel that, after 100 days, it is about time they proceed with governing and administering. The Defence Ministry is important as it involves the security and defence of our country,” he said.

The Sembrong MP also said PH should make sound decisions and policies free from external influence.

“We have moved beyond politics. I hope it is not based on politics, it is very irresponsible,” Hishamuddin added.

Hishamuddin and BN lost the 14th general election, which saw PH taking over Putrajaya.

Hishammuddin did not contest in Umno party polls in June, despite being acting deputy president and party vice-president.

The son of former prime minister Hussein Onn has also been quiet in the ongoing Parliament session and had only commented on the issue of Putrajaya’s cancellation of the KSCIP. – August 8, 2018.

  • Why we need the KSCIP? Is that really needed? A building that can protect the Rakyat?
