Prabakaran denies selling Batu seat to Anwar for RM25 million

Yasmin Ramlan

BATU MP P. Prabakaran has refuted allegations that he had been paid a whopping RM25 million to surrender his seat to PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

The 22-year-old law student said he was unaware why blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin would accuse him of such a thing, and that none of the PKR leaders had spoken to him about the allegations.

“That’s a lot of money,” Prabakaran said at the Parliament lobby, today.

“I am not aware of anything… so I can’t comment… Maybe Raja Petra has something against me. I am not sure.”

On nomination day for GE14, the Election Commission rejected PKR vice-president Tian Chua’s application to stand for the Batu seat on the grounds that he had been fined RM2,000 in court for an offence.

PKR decided to back Prabakaran, who was an independent candidate.

Claims that Prabakaran would be paid to give his seat  surfaced after Selayang MP William Leong expressed his willingness to give his seat up to Anwar. – August 7, 2018.

  • Raja Petra lost his credibility long ago. His idiotic claims over the years have all been discredited and has shown that he is s gun for hire who will write anything for a little cash. I wont blame Prabakaran.

  • A politician may find that being elected to Parliament is not his cup of tea. The demands can be many, and hard to cope with, leading even to ill-health. If he doesn't perform well, replacement will be on the cards at the next election..
