THE Sg Kandis by-election will mark the start of the cooperation between Umno and PAS, Annuar Musa said.
The Umno secretary-general and Ketereh MP said yesterday Allah has decreed that Umno and PAS should work together like siblings.
“What is wrong if we work together like siblings? Maybe it is destined by Allah. Maybe this is going to be the politics of the future,” Annuar told a crowd while campaigning for Lokman Noor Adam, the Barisan Nasional candidate in the state seat.
The only reason BN lost the 14th general election was because of the sweet promises made by Pakatan Harapan, which it is finding hard to fulfil, he said.
The former Mara chairman also reminisced about BN’s time in power and said it gave up the government with an “open heart” despite rumours that former prime minister Najib Razak wanted to declare an emergency and cling on to power.
“We accepted the fate. It was painful. Sixty years we had not tasted defeat. In other countries, there will be bloodshed.”
Lokman, an Umno Supreme Council member, faces Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni (PKR) and K. Murthy (independent) in Saturday’s by-election following the death of Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei of PKR on July 2.
In the 14th general election, Shuhaimi defeated Kamaruzzaman Johari (BN) and Mohd Yusof Abdullah (PAS) by 12,480 votes.
Although the outcome of the Sg Kandis by-election will not affect the Selangor government, it could be a bellwether on whether Umno can still hold on to its Malay support base.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the party would be supporting anyone but PH as the government has failed to deliver its election promises. – August 2, 2018.

That's why he intervened to allow PH to win.
