Sabah Umno lodges 3 reports against Kulasegaran over 'pendatang' remark

SABAH Umno member have lodged three police reports today over the controversial “pendatang” remark made by Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran last week.

Kota Kinabalu Umno Youth chief Abdul Aziz Julkarnain said the authorities must be fair and charge Kulasegaran for his alleged racial statements.

“This is sensitive and can disrupt racial harmony.

“On August 30, 2016, Isma president Abdullah Zaik was also fined under section 4(1) of the Sedition Act following the publishing of the article of ‘The coming of the Chinese with the British colonialists a form of intrusion’ on its website Ismaweb.

“There should be no discrimination among ministers and the people as all are equal eyes of the law. If the Isma president can be punished, why not Kulasegaran?” he said in a statement today.

Last week, Kulasegaran allegedly implied the Malays or Bumiputeras as “pendatang” at a function in a Negri Sembilan, last week.

Earlier, around 30 Sabah Umno members gathered at the Karamunsing police station to protest against Kulasegaran before lodging the police reports.

  • HOI...AREN'T WE ALL CONSIDERED "PENDATANG" ACCORDING TO THE WAY WE BEHAVE, WHETHER WE ARE CHINESE, INDIAN, MALAY, BUMIPUTERA, ETC? So improper speech & action by whatever race can naturally be dubbed "pendatang"?..YES?..

  • Pendatang! What a nice name. Before 9/05, I was known Cina, not Malaysian. After 9/05, the Harapan govt called me Malaysian! Many years ago, a historian said we all came from various parts around the region such as Thailand, India, Pakistan, Portugal, Indonesia, the Philippines and China, to form a mixed bag called Malaysian. Some politicians later begIn to separate us, for reasons best they should know themselves, and called themselves Anak Malayu, good, nothing wrong, and all others orang asin. Lately, these orang asin became pendatang. What would they become years down the road is left to be seen. But today, under the PH govt, all are called Malaysian!! So, why bother the word pendatang? I see nothing wrong being branded pendatang because my ancestor came from another country, but Malaysia accepted me, called me Malaysian, and I am proud and happy. Those Malays, whose ancestors could have come from Indonesia, India or Thailand, are also pendatang, for the meaning of the word, but true Malaysians. So, let it be whatever name they call, so long I am called Malaysian.
