THIS week’s cabinet meeting in Putrajaya will be held tomorrow, said Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Salahuddin Ayub.
He said this is stated in the latest directive on the matter, and that the meeting will be moved to Friday beginning next week.
“Tomorrow, ministers won’t be at Parliament from 2.30pm to 5pm. Next week, we will have the cabinet meeting on Friday,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
“While ministers attend the meeting in Putrajaya, deputy ministers will be at Parliament for question time.”
Last week, Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Nga Kor Ming said the weekly cabinet meeting, held on Wednesday, would be moved to Friday when Parliament was in session.
He said he had been informed by his colleagues in the government that the new arrangement would start immediately.
The decision was made after opposition MPs pointed out that ministers and deputy ministers were absent from last Wednesday’s afternoon sitting.
Salahuddin, who is also Amanah deputy president and Pulai MP, said he does not think there is any problem with this week’s cabinet meeting being held tomorrow.
“The cabinet meeting is for the country, while Parliament is part of the country’s administration.
“The minister can attend the cabinet meeting, and the deputy minister can attend the Dewan Rakyat sitting.” – July 24, 2018.
