PAKATAN Harapan must not make amendments to existing policies just for the sake of making changes, Najib Razak said today.
The former prime minister said it would affect investor confidence on the Malaysian economy.
“If there is any uncertainty, it will affect the market confidence on the Malaysian economy,” he added.
Najib was commenting on the government’s plan to amend the New Economic Policy (NEP).
Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali said the NEP is being reviewed to be more merit-based, prioritising Bumiputeras in Sabah and Sarawak as well as marginalised Indians and Chinese.
The NEP has come under fire from various quarters, with parties wanting to do away with the affirmative action to even the playing field.
Businessman Robert Kuok in his memoirs last year criticised the affirmative action policy for helping Malays in education and business. – July 24, 2018.
