MOHAMED Hanipa Maidin will be discharged from hospital “any time now”, said Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu.
“He is recovering well. Currently, he is resting. He will be discharged any time now. He could be discharged today,” said Mohamad, better known as Mat Sabu, after attending the Defence Ministry’s Raya open house in Jalan Padang Tembak, Kuala Lumpur, today.
Hanipa fainted and fell off the stage minutes into Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s monthly address in Putrajaya yesterday.
It was reported that the deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, who is warded at Putrajaya Hospital, is expected to be discharged today.
The hospital, in a statement, said Hanipa was placed under 24-hour observation.
It said he is in stable condition, but did not reveal what had caused him to faint.
Yesterday, the Sepang MP’s media officer, Anas As-Said Zaharuddin, told Bernama that his boss was conscious.
He requested that the public not speculate on Hanipa’s health.
Hanipa, who is a lawyer by training, was sworn in last week as de facto deputy law minister.
The 48-year-old had suffered a stroke in Parliament in April 2016, and underwent a two-hour surgery for a brain haemorrhage.
He returned to his parliamentary duties in October the same year. – July 10, 2018.
