FORMER prime minister Najib Razak arrived at the Kuala Lumpur High Court at 11.43am today to complete the bail process.

Najib, dressed in a grey suit, was greeted by cheers of “Hidup Najib” and “Bebas Najib” from some 30 supporters.

Accompanying him was his wife, Rosmah Mansor. Najib completed the bail process, emerging from the registrar at 11.47am.

Federal Territories Umno chief Razlan Razii then handed over funds raised by Umno youth before the media.

“I feel touched by the contribution from all levels, from division leaders to the grassroots,” said Najib.

“They have showed their love for their leaders… With their prayers, we can face this test.

“The contribution means a lot to my family. This wasn’t instructed for. It came voluntarily and with sincerity.”

Some 100 police officers, some in plain clothes, stood watch over the proceedings.

In addition to RM261,286 raised by Wanita Umno, the Malay party’s youth wing collected RM489,196 to help with Najib’s legal fees, which are expected to exceed RM2.4 million.

On July 4, Najib, 64, was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power involving SRC International Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of his brainchild, 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

The high court set bail at RM1 million. The sureties were Nooryana Najwa, 30, and Norashman, 27. The court also ordered Najib to surrender his passports, including a diplomatic one.

The high court fixed August 8 for mention.  – July 9, 2018.

  • You could have stopped if you had any pride. Your siblings should be embarrassed for not being there for you or are they embarrassed that they are related to you?

  • Touched being the magic word! Our hope seeing him behind bars - delayed! Yes wander where the kids found the cash? Under the bed like all the rest, how do you sleep at night with so much guilt?

  • Where is the money coming from? It cannot be from the ordinary Umno folk who won't lift a finger until their duit belanja and tambang bas are paid in advance for even the simplest of functions. This derma must be from those who wallowed in the filth in the past years and co-passengers in the numerous gravy trains which were crisscrossing the country until recently. More plausibly it is Najib's loot sent through surrogates to make it look as if he has much support and sympathy. Every single one of them knows that he is a selfish mega-thief who doesn't care a damn about them.

    • Something really stinks!!!!. Suddenly within a couple of days money are plentiful for his bail plus extra on hiring of legal aid. Everyone is havig the same thoughts and Wanita Umno itself is half of what is total collected from the youth party. Must be condos and cows sold for return favour and plus plundered loots and laundrette thru' the drama of donations.

  • No shame at all. No regrets of what he has done. The supporters are blind to all his wrongs because they were given the dedak before.

  • PR ploy. Sounds fishy when it reached more than RM 500 million within days in comparison to Tabung Harapan's RM 100+ million which started way earlier. I suppose this is Rakyat Diperdayakan, Penajiban Diutamakan, lol.

    • I meant RM 500,000 not RM 500 million. Sorry, typo error.
