New Malaysia filled with feudal politics of vengeance, says Najib's son

THE “New Malaysia” today, under the same particular prime minister, is not vastly different from the old one 30 years ago, Nazifuddin Najib said.

The son of former prime minister Najib Razak said the country still practised biased prosecution like before, except the individuals were different, but coincidentally, under the same prime minister.

Nazifuddin made veiled references to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad on his Facebook page yesterday, a day after his father was charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and abuse of power.

We are a country that speaks of democracy but we are politically immature and still practising feudal politics filled with vengeance,” he said.

Nazifuddin, a businessman in his early 30s, is Najib’s son from his previous marriage with Tengku Puteri Zainah Tengku Eskandar.

Najib was charged on Wednesday with misusing his position as a government official to receive a RM42 million bribe as inducement to provide a sovereign guarantee on behalf of the Malaysian government for a RM4 billion loan from the Retirement Fund Inc (KWAP) to SRC International Sdn Bhd.

The former leader, who fell from power after Barisan Nasional lost the May 9 general election, also faces three counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) in his capacity as prime minister, finance minister and SRC International adviser emeritus.

He claimed trial and has been released on a RM1 million bail.

Nazifuddin cited organised raids, police “black marias” at his father’s home during Ramadan and endless press conferences aimed at creating more public anger before Najib was charged.

“Isn’t it procedure not to reveal investigation details when a probe is ongoing? Or was all that was done just to humiliate my father?

“I asked myself whether it was logical for the prime minister to be bought with just RM42 million. Is his integrity worth only that much?

“If every CBT case, power abuse or graft can be linked to a prime minister, then he and all those before him should be responsible for all the losses incurred during their administrations,” he said.

The only surviving former prime ministers who preceded Najib are Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Dr Mahathir, who has returned to office.

Nazifuddin said his father’s prosecution was also led by the attorney-general chosen by the present government, even though his appointment was objected to by many.

This, he said, clearly demonstrated vengeance politics.

“It is now clear to me that the opposition’s (PH’s) manifesto in GE14 was centred on hauling the prime minister, whom they accused of corruption, to court.

“This they had promised and must deliver as soon as possible, regardless of the means,” he said.

Nazifuddin said his father had faced all sorts of slander during the 14th general election.

“I say this not to ask for sympathy but to tell the truth for everyone to see and understand: if the suffering of a former leader who is now charged can make Malaysians happy, then he is willing to face that suffering.

“That’s my father, and I am sure Malaysians know what kind of a person he is.

“If throughout his 42 years in government, he was a bad man who just wanted to steal the people’s money, I don’t think he would have been made prime minister years ago.”

Reactions to his post have not been fairly different from what his half-sister, Nooryana Najwa Najib, received after imploring for sympathy for her father on Instagram on Wednesday.

Many social media users poured scorn while others told Nazifuddin to stay strong. – July 6, 2018.

  • Hello, during your father's tenure, billions of ringgit went missing from the coffers. What are you whining about? In fact he was treated with so much dignity than previous cases. You shd be grateful instead of whining. Do you know how much the rakyat suffered? The future generations also suffered. You are delusional as your dad

    • They are just aggravating their own crime to be amplified. They did not realise that all the actions from the family / families and lackeys are not doing any good to help them in the cause. Instead they will lend issues to be ridiculed. Right now rakyat should concentrate on a initiating a bigger petition to ensure that the Judge of this concerns be recused and TT stay to prosecute Najib with the end result of a capital punishment. The evil scum bag should not be let off easily .

  • 42 million ringgit is a lot of money and is more than enough to buy the loyalty of many many men includingg prime ministers. But you have been taught to think very very much bigger than just 42 million ringgit. You've seen billions upon billions passing through the hands of people known to you. You brother threw hundreds of millions of us dollars like it was nothing. Ha and his accomplice threw millions away on gambling and thres super luxurious parties. Over a billion dollars of property has been seized in the US and there's beeen no real attemppt to reclaim it. So, to someone who's seen phenomenal sums of money, 42 million looks like chump change. But not to worry, theres several more indictments coming which will make criminal charges against this man more realistic.

  • Like Father Like Son Like Daughter, all of them see and in the opinion that stealing taxpayers money and misuse of power are prime ministers entitlement and fringe benefits, not a crime. This kind of family can even sell their own country to support their extremely lavished way of living. The entire family should be charged for misused of govt money for their weddings, vacations, shoppings, you name it. Thanks God that Tun M is still alive until today to stop this family from selling Malaysia to China. Dont blame you Nazifuddin, you have been too long living in a dream. Time to wake up to see the damages that you father had done. You could not have seen it before, now the court telling you one by one.
