SARAWAK Deputy Chief Minister James Masing has welcomed the appointment of Baru Bian as works minister, saying he hopes to “build roads and bridges” with the latter.

Masing, who is also state infrastructure development and transport minister, said he is “very pleased” that an MP for a rural Sarawak seat has been appointed to the cabinet post.

Baru is Selangau MP, as well as Ba Kelalan assemblyman.

“He understands the need and urgency to build more infrastructure in rural Sarawak,” said Masing today.

Baru said he is honoured by the appointment, and is “conscious of the fact that the responsibility attached to this portfolio is a heavy and onerous one”.

He said he will do his best to ensure that the Works Ministry is efficient, transparent and accountable in all its dealings. – July 2, 2018.

  • I wonder if this urgency was the same when BN was in power though.

But all that said, Sarawakians hope for the best in terms of development of infrastructure especially connecting the rural villages and towns.
