FORMER Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli is thinking of starting a business, but would do so without government help.

The PKR vice-president said in series of tweets that it is possible to venture into business without the help of government contracts.

“I don’t want any position in the government, agencies or government link companies.

“I want to start my own business and endure the ups and downs of being an entrepreneur,” he said on Twitter.

Earlier, this month Rafizi said that he wants to take a two-year break before thinking about returning to Parliament.

He won his appeal to stay out of jail, but the politician has no plans to return to Parliament immediately as two other criminal cases are hanging over his head.

Rafizi succeed in his appeal against an 18-month jail sentence for disclosing the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) audit report to media despite it being an official secret.

Due to the many cases hanging over his head, Rafizi decided not to defend his Pandan parliamentary seat, which was won by PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail in the 14th general election.

Rafizi said that he wants to prove to Malaysians that he can do business without the assistance of the government.

“Anyone can succeed in business without the help of the government.

“I want to convince the youths that it is better to do business than to take a salary.”

He said that if a person is not corrupt they can earn RM40,000 a month in the government.

“I have earned such money before when I was younger.”

He is also looking to venture into machine-learning applications that is currently popular among tech circles. – June 27, 2018.
