Dr Mahathir visits Anwar at UM Medical Centre

PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has paid a visit to PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim in hospital.

The Pakatan Harapan chairman visited Anwar, who is warded at the University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), this evening after wrapping up his press conference at the Bersatu headquarters.

“He went to visit right after the PC just now,” confirmed an aide to Dr Mahathir.

Anwar’s family said he was admitted on Saturday night for a severe prolapsed disc injury.

In a statement, the family said doctors at UMMC are monitoring his condition closely.

They said doctors have advised them to decline visitor requests while Anwar undergoes treatment and observation.

He was rushed to hospital after being unable to move upon his return from Turkey on Saturday evening.

Anwar’s daughter, Nurul Izzah Anwar, had confirmed this.

“Yes, serious,” the Permatang Pauh MP told The Malaysian Insight.

The former deputy prime minister was in Turkey to lend support to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was seeking re-election.

Erdogan was today announced winner of the polls. – June 25, 2018.
