DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang said he does not see any problem with ministers exposing the wrongdoing of the previous government.
He said the scandals should be brought to the public’s attention in order to create a new Malaysia with zero-tolerance for corruption.
“I believe that there is a need to build a new Malaysia. We must be able to undo all the wrongs of the past,” he told reporters at the Segambut parliamentary office in Kuala Lumpur today.
Lim was asked to comment on the criticism received by Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng from PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim who told him to leave the exposes to other ministries and government agencies.
Lim said his comment was not specific to the exposes made by his son on the 1Malaysia Develoment Bhd (1MDB) scandal and was addressing the issue in general.
He also said he had been exposing government wrongdoing for the past 52 years.
“It is better to expose than later be grilled by the opposition and be blamed as though they were responsible for it.
“There are plus and minuses (in the exposes) but if there are wrongs, I think that it should be made public,” said Lim.
Yesterday, Anwar said Lim should leave the exposing of scandals to other ministries and government agencies and he should instead be focusing on instilling confidence in investors.
Lim said all the financial scandals he had exposed were under the instructions of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. – June 20, 2018.
