CONTROVERSIAL Umno Sungai Besar chief Jamal Yunos is still in Malaysia despite suggestions that he fled to Indonesia, said Umno Youth exco Armand Azhar.

Armand announced this when he drew the lot for Jamal today during nominations for the party election, adding that the Umno leader was still in contact with his division.

“He is still in Malaysia. We pray for his safety,” Armand told reporters later.

There is a warrant of arrest out for the Red Shirts leader after he jumped bail.

Police are investigating him over nine alleged crimes including being a public nuisance over his beer-smashing stunt to protest a beer festival outside the Selangor State Secretariat building in October 2016.

According to Armand, Jamal had accused the new Pakatan Harapan government of malicious persecution.

“He feels that the action of the government is overboard without practicing the real rule of law. They are following the rule of the jungle,” Armand said.

Jamal is qualified to run for the position of Umno Youth chief as he has a “proven track record” when he led the Red Shirts against Bersih 2.0 in all their rallies, Armand said.

He added that Jamal is innocent until proven guilty by the courts, enabling him to contest in the party polls for now.

In a separate post, Jamal said he would also defend his Sungai Besar division post.

His whereabouts since May 25 are unclear after he escaped from a hospital in Ampang where he had been held pending his bail process.

Others in the running for the Umno Youth chief post are deputy Youth chief Khairul Azwan Harun, former deputy minister Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Bandar Taman Cempaka Umno Youth information chief Syed Rosli Jamalullail Syed Harman. – June 18, 2018.

  • Monyet Merah - you better hide. I am sure you will be torture if you are caught by the police.

  • If this is true the it looks like PDRM is sitting on their thumbs and needs a serious REPRIMAND!

  • If he is in Malaysia, he must be hiding in a remote cave and hunting food to have avoided the cops and the public eye in this age of viral videos. If this is not the case - he is being protected - for reasons one can only guess.

  • Seriously, I am appalled by PDRM and Muyidin Yassin's lackadaisical attitude. Two men, Jamal and Musa can't be traced - how embarrassing!
