I wouldn't have crawled to Dr Mahathir like Zahid did, says Ku Li

UMNO stalwart Tengku Razaleigh Tengku Hamzah today took a jab at the party’s acting president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for seeking Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s advice on how to run Umno following its loss of federal power. 

The party veteran said he would have behaved differently had he been acting president. 

“Why should I (ask Dr Mahathir)? I head a different party. 

“He left the party that he formed with Anwar Ibrahim (referring to when Umno was deregistered). So, why would I go crawling to him?” he said today. 

On June 7, the prime minister and Bersatu chairman said during Zahid’s courtesy call, the latter sought advice on how to administer Umno following the party’s major defeat in the 14th general election. 

Tengku Razaleigh, also known as Ku Li, however, refrained from criticising Zahid’s visit further. 

“People have asked me why he met Dr Mahathir to seek advice on how to run Umno. That is his right,” he said.

Zahid, who uploaded the photo on Facebook, had said the meeting was in conjunction with Ramadan. – June 10, 2018.

  • I am not a fan of Zahid. If you (Ku Li) wants to go for umno president - it is unnecessary to sabotage Zahid with unkind words. Use your ability to gather votes - instead of using poison to hurt Zahid. If you do win umno presidency - I doubt you can bring reform with your sinister mindset. UMNO will continue with its culture of greed, abuse, corruption, arrogance and lies.

  • Well, politicians are cockroach and Zahid Hamidi certaintly has shown he is one of them BUT if that is your nature, that is your nature. The issue is not whether he crawled to Mahathir BUT rather it was pointless. If Mahathir knew how to reform UMNO, he would have done it even before he left power. He took the drastic step of throwing out his own UMNO Baru because he really had no idea what to do with UMNO.

  • Zahid was chosen by MO1 for precisely the same reasons Chavez of Venezuela chose the loyal but incompetent idiot Maduro (look at Venezuela now!).... someone who won't pose a threat. No PM would want to constantly worry about back-stabbing ...... same why PKR purged their smart members in the early days .... because they were perceived as threats to Anwar and Azmin postitions
