BADMINTON ace Lee Chong Wei has denied any link to a banana leaf restaurant shuttered for hygiene issues despite an ownership check that revealed his name as a company director.

Lee said he had nothing to do with the eatery which was closed by the authorities after a video showing workers washing plates in dirty, stagnant water went viral yesterday.

“No, no… I have nothing to do with it,” he told The Malaysian Insight earlier today.

But a Companies Commission of Malaysia check showed Lee listed as a director in Intercompass Sdn Bhd which owns Raj Banana Leaf.

The other directors are Muhammad Rizal Rahman and Muhammad Hafisze Hamid.

Deputy director of the Health Department Chandrakant Patel said the restaurant will be closed until it sorted out the washing area problem.

The management yesterday issued an apology on Facebook, saying the incident “has never happened before, and should not have happened”.

However, it did not say when the incident took place. – May 30, 2018.

  • He has learned all the bad habits from his benefactor. The first frontal defence is to deny and no comments. Actully there is nothing to worry about and he should be very open with a positive approach to reslove the issues eventho' he is not directly invovled in the concerns unless there is more than to meet the eyes
