Malaysia welcomes Pakistan offer to supply halal meat

MALAYSIA and Pakistan have agreed to strengthen ties, especially in trade and investment, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said.

This includes considering Pakistan’s suggestion to export halal meat to Malaysia.

Anwar said his Pakistani counterpart Shehbaz Sharif offered the deal yesterday in a phone call.

“During the phone conversation, we both wanted to explore opportunities to strengthen Malaysia-Pakistan ties, especially in the fields of trade and investment.

“I also welcome PM Shehbaz’s suggestion for Pakistan to export halal meat to Malaysia,” he said on Facebook today.

Malaysia imports buffalo meat from India and beef from Australia, New Zealand, US, and Argentina.

He added that Shehbaz had praised Malaysia’s stance on the Palestine cause.

“In addition, we also discussed various regional and international issues, including the situation in Gaza and Afghanistan” he said.

Shehbaz also repeated his invitation to Anwar to visit Pakistan.

The two leaders also exchanged Aidilfitri greetings. – April 11, 2024.
