Brunei national killed in car plunge off Limbang bridge

A white Toyota Innova has plunged off a bridge in Limbang, Sarawak, killing a 51-year-old Brunei national and seriously injuring his passenger. – Limbang Fire and Rescue Dept pic, September 5, 2023.

A 51-YEAR-OLD Brunei national was killed and another seriously injured when their car plunged off a bridge at Nanga Meret in Limbang, Sarawak yesterday. 

Para Jack died on the spot while his passenger, identified as 56-year-old Muhammad Azwan Mazlan Abdullah, was rushed to Limbang hospital after he was extricated from the Brunei-registered Toyota Innova that went off the bridge and landed on its roof in the river. 

A member of the public alerted the Fire and Rescue Service Department of the mishap at around 4.30pm. 

The department’s operations centre in Kuching stated that Muhammad was the first to be extricated, at around 5.45pm, with serious injuries. 

He was immediately handed over to a medical team that had rushed an ambulance to the accident site. 

Para was only taken out of the vehicle at 6.25pm and was pronounced dead at the scene. – September 5, 2023.
