MUDA is bringing its leadership elections forward following its crushing defeat in last week’s state elections.

In a statement, it said the decision was made during its Central Executive Committee meeting yesterday, which was attended by its national and state leaders.

“The main point of the meeting was Muda’s performance in the state elections and the vacancy of key positions.

“Muda will be performing a post-mortem on August 26, in which national and state leaders will participate,” it said in a statement.

Muda lost all 19 seats it contested in the August 12 six state elections.

Luqman Long has vacated the position of party information chief. Muda said an acting information chief will be introduced soon.

The party said bringing forward the leadership polls is an effort to protect Muda’s importance.

It expressed its gratitude to its supporters and its election machinery. – August 19, 2023.
