THERE is nothing wrong with a change in government, as long as it is in line with the Federal Constitution, Selangor Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Mohamed Azmin Ali said.
He said a change of leadership is not unusual or something that cannot be done.
“The constitution allows for a change in government when it fails to meet the aspirations of the people,” he said at the Gombak Setia Hari Raya open house today.
Earlier, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim chided those who were threatening to topple the unity government.
He said that action will be taken against those who want to sabotage the government.
“Don’t sabotage (the government). We have given (you) room and if (you) try to interfere, we will act accordingly without compromise,” he said at an Aidilfitri open house in Penang.
Azmin said when the government is unable to solve the people’s issues, their complaints will be passed to their leaders and representatives in their areas.
“As long as government is bound by the provisions of the constitution and the law it (change) can be made.
“We leave it to the people (to decide),” he said.
Following further reports about the opposition scheming to topple the government, Anwar said he was fed up with the constant rumours of plots.
He called on the opposition to table a motion of no confidence against him in the Dewan Rakyat in two weeks’ time. – May 6, 2023.
