J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd has denied Bersatu leader Mohamed Azmin Ali’s claims it received a contract to import eggs via direct negotiations from the government.
The local company, in a statement, branded the statement by the former lawmaker as untrue and an attempt to mislead the public.
It said it was considering legal action against the Perikatan Nasional (PN) information chief.
“We wish to vigorously deny the statements made by Mohamed Azmin Ali during his speech at ‘Ceramah Perdana: Solidariti Menentang Kezaliman’, organised by PN at Dewan Dato’ Ustaz Fadzil Noor, Taman Melewar, Kuala Lumpur, on March 11, 2023.
“J&E Advance Tech Sdn Bhd was never awarded any direct negotiation by the government of Malaysia nor did we ever sell nor offer to sell the eggs imported from India to the government of Malaysia or any government relevant agency/government linked companies.
“The statement was designed to confuse the general public to deflect the criminal case filed against his party president Muhyiddin Yassin by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC),” it said.
The local company also did not mince its word in saying that Azmin, in his desperate attempt to create a diversion, was taking a “back door” approach by using a “lame spin” of a normal egg importation into a fake scenario of direct negotiations by Putrajaya.
However the company said it did import eggs as a stopgap measure to supply the local hypermarket, supermarket and mini market during the festive season period from December 2022 till June 2023.
“The company hereby demands that unless Azmin makes necessary reparations by making and issuing the relevant corrective statement in writing to us and in social media platforms frequently used within 72 hours from the date hereof we will proceed to commence legal action against him,” the company said.
Previously, Azmin claimed the government awarded the contract to import eggs via direct negotiations.
Although Azmin did not name the company, he claimed the contract was awarded to carpet dealer Deepak Jaikishan. – March 13, 2023.
