THE Registrar of Societies (RoS) today informed DAP it has to address the registration of the party’s new branches nationwide and the amendment to its constitution.
DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke said this was their first meeting with RoS after its central election committee (CEC) re-election last November.
Loke said RoS did not recognise 206 new nationwide branches the party had since 2013.
“
Loke said the party would do so within two months.
Another matter was the party’s constitutional amendments made at its national conference in 2014.
The party increased its CEC members to 30 from 20 members and included a 30% quota for women leaders.
“It has yet to be approved as the party’s national conference was not recognised,” he said.
“Therefore the amendment cannot be recognised as well.
“RoS advised us to present the amendment again in our national conference next year.”
On the status of Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) registration, Loke said RoS stated the coalition has yet to be registered as Bersatu was under investigation.
RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim had earlier said PH’s registration was pending because Bersatu had yet to hold its annual general meeting while DAP had yet to submit its full report on the re-election of its CEC members.
DAP had its re-election at a special congress on November 12 while Bersatu held its AGM on December 30.
However, Surayati said among the issues Bersatu has yet to resolve were claims its annual general meeting was illegal and it violated its constitution as well as a matter involving Bersatu’s youth wing, Armada. – March 9, 2018.
