FORMER PKR vice president Chua Tian Chang said that he is aware his decision to stand for parliament as an independent in Batu would earn him the boot from PKR.

“I’m not complaining or aggrieved about it. The main thing now is that it is the election season.

“I think party interests have to be put aside. We are now returning the mandate to the people, let the people make the judgment,” he said after submitting his nomination in Sentul today.

Earlier in Tambun, Anwar said that Chua had been ejected from the party, in which he had been since its founding days, for standing as an independent and challenging incumbent P. Prabakaran, who is Pakatan Harapan’s choice for the seat.

“We have sacked him as he had gone against party policy… for standing as an independent,” Anwar said.

The PKR president said the party’s position was clear in cases like this.

Tian Chua said that he never questioned Anwar’s power and was not bitter about his former president’s decision.

“He is duty bound to act as the head of the political party. I have to accept that.

“When I made this choice, I was willing to accept the decision.

“I have no complaints about Anwar or Rafizi Ramli. They are doing what is best for the party. I accept that.”

He said that he will leave his fate and political future to the people of Batu.

“If my actions are not as they wish, then they can cast their vote accordingly.

“I’m not betraying the party or PH. Let’s not use emotional words like that, when you say ‘betray’, you mean that you betray the principle.

“I have stuck to PH all this while and I was part of the originator in the creation of PH.

“I still subscribe to the principles to which PH stands. I think the important thing is whether the person is sincere, you have to judge them by their actions. It has to be seen by the people and recognised by the people.” – November 5, 2022.
