THE hundreds of complaints lodged by former Bersatu members are from those intent on sabotaging the opposition’s effort to challenge the reign of Umno and the ruling Barisan Nasional, said Pakatan Harapan Youth deputy chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.
The Registrar of Societies (RoS) has launched an investigation into the status of Bersatu’s annual general meeting following opposition by several party members.
The complaints stem from allegations the party’s annual general meeting in December was in violation of its constitution.
Syed Saddiq said there were parties intent on “invalidating the formation of Pakatan Harapan”, as casting uncertainty on the registration of Bersatu would upset the opposition pact’s efforts to challenge BN in the next election.
“
“We do not have any intention to pick a fight with RoS, we only want a meeting point.”
Syed Saddiq also said Pakatan Youth has sent a memorandum to RoS urging it to speed up the registration process of Bersatu as well as PH as an official coalition.
“
RoS director-general Surayati Ibrahim had previously said PH’s registration was pending because Bersatu had yet to hold an annual general meeting, and DAP had yet to submit a full report on the re-election of its central committee members.
DAP held its re-election for the party’s central executive committee at a special congress on November 12 while Bersatu held their AGM on December 30. – February 21, 2018.
