Youth and Sports Ministry to make changes to development act

THE Youth and Sports Ministry is drafting several amendments for the Sports Development Act 1997 (Act 576) to streamline the administration of sports associations and sports-related groups. 

Its deputy minister Ti Lian Ker said the amendments are also aimed to enhance the culture of professionalism in more than 11,000 associations registered under Act 576 from 1998 until December 31, 2021. 

“There are still many issues that need to be improved on, namely in terms of management, administration and financial procedures for the sake of development in the sports industry and improvement of athletes’ welfare,” he told reporters after launching the Netball Super League 2022 in Bukit Jalil today. – Bernama, May 25, 2022.
