DAP will not amend ties with Bersatu or PAS as the two parties cannot be trusted, said its chairman Lim Guan Eng.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, the former DAP secretary-general said he would not meet Muhyiddin Yassin to discuss possible cooperation, as the Pagoh lawmaker masterminded the Sheraton Move, which resulted in the Pakatan Harapan government’s collapse in 2020.

“I won’t agree if he wants to meet. We were stabbed in the back, and we shouldn’t be fooled again,”

“It’s all right if we chat in Parliament, but to discuss working together, I don’t agree. I won’t accept it, the door is closed,” Lim was quoted as saying by the Malay daily today.

Lim, who was former finance minister, also accused Muhyiddin of sabotaging DAP by linking some members of the party to the now defunct Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam terrorist group.

Muhyiddin was home minister in the PH government.

DAP assemblymen P. Gunasekaran and G. Saminathan, along with 10 others, were charged in October 2019 over alleged links to the Sri Lankan militant group.

“It was our own people or the deep state that betrayed us. Why did Muhyiddin say our people were linked to LTTE when the group didn’t even exist then?” asked Lim.

In February 2020, then attorney-general Tommy Thomas exercised his powers as public prosecutor to discontinue proceedings against the 12.

The Bagan MP also said he does not trust PAS’ Abdul Hadi Awang, whom he described as “evasive and does not keep his word”.

Two weeks ago, opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim said he has had meetings with Muhyiddin, but never discussed supporting the latter to be prime minister again. – April 18, 2022.
