BERSATU chairman Muhyiddin Yassin has met Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad to discuss working together for the 15th general election said Mukhriz Mahathir.
The Pejuang president said Muhyiddin met with Dr Mahathir two weeks ago after the Johor state election.
“Muhyiddin met Dr Mahathir two weeks after the Johor polls. He asked for the meeting and Dr Mahathir agreed to meet,” he said after a Pejuang retreat in Kuala Terengganu today.
Mukhriz did not disclose where the meeting took place.
This is the first time both men had officially met since the Sheraton Move which toppled the Pakatan Harapan government led by Dr Mahahtir.
Mukhriz said Pejuang had not made a decision on working with Bersatu.
Yesterday. Dr Mahathir had indicated that Pejuang was open to working with the opposition provided the party had integrity and was sincere in its struggle.
Mukhriz said Pejuang had been invited by other opposition parties to work with it in the 15th general election.
Mukhriz conceded the ties between Dr Mahahtir and Muhyiddin were still frosty after the Sheraton move.
Despite this, Mukhriz said Pejuang was prepared to leave the past behind and work with Bersatu in the interest of the people.
“For the sake of the country and the people we are willing to work with them provided the intentions are right, but if it is wrong we will not agree,” he said. – March 31, 2022
