BERSATU Youth leaders have been offered cash and job placements by a former member to quit the party, said a branch chief today.

Ampang Bersatu Youth chief Anas Akasiah said the offer was made via Facebook Messenger by former Klang Youth chief Mohamed Khairol Faizal Mohd Nordin.

He said Khairol Faizal had approached him and Sabak Bernam Youth chief Saufi Yusof with the offer.

There is proof that Khairol Faizal offered me money and a job to badmouth Bersatu,” Anas said during a press conference at the party’s headquarters today.

Saufi said Khairol Faizal offered him a government position, in exchange for calling a press conference to speak ill about Bersatu.

“I received a message last January. He invited me to leave the party and hold a press conference.

“He offered me to be in charge of a programme that was endorsed by the government.”

Last week, Khairol Faizal and party member Juliana Mansor had lodged a report with the Registrar of Societies (RoS), accusing the party of breaching its constitution.

Klang Youth chief Dr Faiz Na’aman said Khairol Faizal had resigned from his post last November, and Juliana had been referred to the party’s disciplinary committee.

“Khairol Faizal resigned as (Youth) branch leader in November. Juliana is being reviewed by the disciplinary committee.”

Bersatu’s counsel, Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla, said the party would not initiate legal action or lodge a police report over the matter.

“No need for a police report. The other side will do it if it’s necessary,” he said today.

He said Khairol Faizal’s accusations against Bersatu had “no basis”, and the party’s leadership would soon call a press conference to address the issue concerning RoS.

Khairol Faizal denied that he had offered bribes, and said a police report had been lodged over the matter.

“This is slander, I have lodged a police report. We will wait for police to investigate,” he told The Malaysian Insight.

Khairol Faizal and Juliana have claimed that the Klang division did not hold the Youth and Srikandi wings’ meetings last year prior to Bersatu’s annual general meeting in December. – February 10, 2018.
