TENAGA Nasional Bhd (TNB) has temporarily shut down 40 substations in Kuala Lumpur, following flash floods in the city this afternoon.
The company said it is working towards slowly restoring power to the affected areas.
“Efforts are underway to ensure electricity supply in the affected areas can be channeled in stages, depending on access and local conditions,” it said on Facebook.
The company warned that if the floods worsen, more substations will be closed to ensure user safety.
“If the floods worsen, supply will be shut off at affected substations to ensure the safety of local consumers.”
A heavy downpour caused flash floods in several parts of the capital city.
Viral photos show cars stuck on flooded roads and water levels rising in car parks.

Early reports said Jalan Kuchai Lama is badly affected, with several roads cut off by rising water. Jalan Pinang is also flooded.
Among affected areas are the Tabung Haji tunnel, Jalan Chan Sow Lin tunnel, Jalan Pudu, Jalan Pahang, Jalan Sri Permaisuri and Jalan Tun Razak.
As of 4.45pm, the water level in the city has been categorised as dangerous.
Two water stations in Gombak, and Bandar Country Homes and Kampung Melayu Seri Kundang in Rawang are at danger level.
Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said authorities are swiftly mobilising to help victims of the flash floods.
