PAS has removed Khairuddin Aman Razali as the secretary of its Syura Council, a month after he was expelled from the party central committee.
Party president Abdul Hadi Awang said the Kuala Nerus MP was dismissed from the post for violating party rules but did not further elaborate.
Hadi said the party leaders made the decision on Wednesday.
“His appointment to the Syura Council secretary was made by the central committee, which has now decided to cancel the appointment.
“He is no longer a member of the Syura council. He is now only an ordinary member (of PAS),” Hadi told reporters in Rusila today.
In January, the party revoked the former plantation industries and commodities minister’s appointment to the central committee, also citing breach of party rules.
Khairuddin’s removal from party posts is believed to be due to his eagerness for the party to continue working with Umno through Muafakat Nasional (MN), and over his criticism against Hadi.
The party has chosen to work with Bersatu in the Perikatan Nasional pact.
PAS secretary -general Takiyuddin Hassan had previously denied Khairuddin’s dismissal was due to those issues.
In November last year, Khairuddin was among three leaders appointed to the PAS central committee for the 2021-2023 term after losing in the party polls. The two other appointments were Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki and Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz. – February 11, 2022.
