SHARING videos and lewd messages purportedly involving popular preacher Ebit Lew are disrupting police investigations into his alleged sexual harassment, Bukit Aman CID director Abdul Jalil Hassan said.
He told reporters today police have already opened an investigation paper into the allegations of sexual harassment against the preacher.
“Sharing or circulating the videos and messages have disrupted our investigation,” he said during a press conference at Gombak police station today.
The videos and messages are reportedly being circulated on Telegram.
Jalil urged those with information on the case to inform the police instead of taking to social media.
Jalil said following the spread of the videos and messages, police have opened an investigation paper under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult to provoke a breach of peace, and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for improper use of network facilities.
In August, Ebit, whose full name is Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, made a statement to the police on the allegations, which he described to the press as “atrocious and extreme slander”. – September 24, 2021.
