THE Negri Sembilan assembly today passed two bills today: the Negri Sembilan Baitulmal Corporation (Repeal) Bill 2021 and the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Council Corporation (MAINS) Bill 2021.

The motion was proposed by Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun, and read together and approved by Speaker Zulkefly Mohamad Omar after receiving unanimous support from assemblymen.

Aminuddin said the state Baitulmal Corporation bill, would be named the Negri Sembilan Corporation (Repeal) Enactment 2021 and would come into force on the date of its broadcast in the government gazette.

When presenting the bill, Aminuddin said the repeal of the enactment, which had been approved by Yang Dipertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Almarhum Tuanku Munawir sought to avoid duplication of roles and functions between Baitulmal Corporation and MAINS.

“The repeal of the enactment also places the power and transfer of the corporation’s funds to MAINS,” he said at the sitting in Seremban today.

Meanwhile, Aminuddin said the MAINS Corporation bill was to provide the establishment of MAINS Corporation the provisions to manage investment, business and commercialisation as well as other related matters.

He said overall the bill contained 41 clauses, including provisions related to the membership of the corporation and their tenure.

The assembly adjourned today to a date to be determined. – Bernama, September 8, 2021.
