THE Health Ministry detected 39 new Covid-19 clusters today, a bulk of which were from workplaces, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.
This is the highest number of new Covid-19 clusters reported to date. The previous high was on July 16 when 37 clusters were recorded.
Eighteen of the 39 clusters originated in workplaces while 15 were traced back to the community. Two clusters were linked to detention centres while one cluster each was reported at a religious centre and an education institution.
With the new additions, there are now 1,213 active clusters nationwide.
The workplace clusters are:
1. Construction site Jalan Aman Serenia in Petaling and Sepang, Selangor (36 cases);
2. Jalan Kelicap 42B in Klang, Selangor (29);
3. Industry Lorong Tandang in Petaling, Selangor (26);
4. Construction site Jalan Teknokrat in Sepang, Selangor (16);
5. Construction site Jalan Kuchai Maju in Lembah Pantai, Kuala Lumpur (118);
6. Jalan Rusa 2 in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (28);
7. Construction site Jalan U Thant 2 in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur (15);
8. Bukit Bakri Muar in Muar, Johor (33);
9. Industry Keluli 11 in Johor Bahru, Johor (27);
10. Industry MIEL Gebeng in Kuantan, Pahang (33);
11. Industry Gebeng 2/1 in Kuantan, Pahang (24);
12. Jalan Ding Lik Kwong Dua in Sibu, Sarawak (15);
13. Jalan Buan in Tatau, Sarawak (12);
14. Bukit Tengah 2 in Dungun, Kemaman and Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (126);
15. Dah Dua Industri Sungai Petani in Kuala Muda, Kedah (33);
16. Persiaran S2 in Seremban, Negri Sembilan (15);
17. Jalan Pasar Bukit Mertajam in Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan in Penang (12); and
18. Seksyen 20 Jalan Darul Naim in Kota Baru and Pasir Mas, Kelantan (seven).
The community clusters are:
1. Kg Pasir Kota in Kota Baru, Kelantan (20 cases);
2. Kg Gok Kapur in Kota Baru, Kelantan (19);
3. Chenderong Batu Timur in Tumpat, Kelantan (18);
4. Kg Tok Pah in Kota Baru, Kelantan (13);
5. Jalan Kuala Besar in Kota Baru, Kelantan (10);
6. Ketapang Hilir Pekan in Pekan, Pahang (38);
7. Rantau Seroja in Maran, Pahang (34);
8. Kg Tersusun in Lipis, Pahang (15);
9. Jalan Feri Lama in Rompin, Pahang (14);
10. Gajah Mati Jerantut in Jerantut, Pahang (13);
11. Taman Malihah in Kuching, Sarawak (40);
12. Kg Pulo Ulu in Kuching, Sarawak (23);
13. Pengadang Baru in Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu (87);
14. Desa Enam Belas in Sabak Bernam, Selangor (16); and
15. Dah Kg Sawa in Pendang, Kedah (40).
The two detention centre clusters were reported in Pagar Bagan Serai in Kerian, Perak (50 cases) and Tembok Penor in Kuantan, Pahang (30 cases).
Two high-risk clusters were detected in Jalan Stutong Baru in Kuching, Sarawak (22 cases) and at Persiaran Lemak in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur (14 cases).
The education cluster involving 13 cases was reported in Jalan Kampung Demit in Kota Baru, Kelantan, while the religious centre cluster was detected at Dah Kampung Derangin Kota Setar, Kedah (38 cases). – August 8, 2021.
