GABUNGAN Parti Sarawak (GPS) today made it official that it will support embattled Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin with Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg declaring that the support among the four parties of the coalition was unanimous.

In a terse statement after chairing the state’s ruling coalition presidential council meeting at Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) headquarters in Petrajaya this afternoon, Abang Johari said now is not the time for politicking that will undermine the stability of the country.

“This is the time for Malaysians to consolidate, unite and bring the country out of the pandemic crisis,” he said in reaction to Umno throwing the country’s political scene into chaos when its Supreme Council announced it was withdrawing support for the Muhyiddin administration.

Apart from PBB, the other three parties in the four-party coalition are Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) and the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).

Apart from PDP president Tiong King Sing, all the presidents of the other parties attended the meeting – James Masing for PRS and Dr Sim Kui Hian for SUPP.

GPS secretary-general Alexander Banta Linggi and PBB vice-president Dr Stephen Rundi had on Thursday stated that the state coalition is supporting the Perikatan Nasional government led by Muhyiddin to keep the stability of the country. – July 10, 2021.
