TWO men were killed in Ranau, Sabah, when part of the road they were travelling on collapsed.
Ranau was hit by a weak earthquake around 8pm yesterday.
It could not be ascertained when the road collapsed, and the Civil Defence Force said the road gave way because of a landslide caused by heavy rain.
The Fire and Rescue Department in a statement identified the two men as Jaiman Bien, 39, and Edmond James, 22.
They were travelling on a motorcyle along the Marak Parak road when it collapsed.
Rescuers found the bodies of the two men under the rubble about one hour apart from each other.
“The first victim was found at 8.31am and the second body was found aat 9.28am,” the department said.
The Ranau and Kota Marudu fire station responded to the distress call around 7.20am today. – January 12, 2018.
