ON principle, the three PAS reps on the Selangor executive council should quit their positions as their party has “divorced” PKR, the leaders in the state administration, said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.

It would be “sinful” for the divorced to still sleep together, he said.

“How can you stay together, sleep on the same bed after a divorce?

“It is not right. Won’t that be sinful? Won’t that be committing ‘zina’ (adultery)?”

Lim was commenting on the awkward situation in the Selangor government with PAS deciding to end political cooperation with PKR.

Lim said he supported Selangor Menteri Besar Azmin Ali’s call for the three PAS excos, Iskandar Samad, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, and Zaidy Abdul Talib to resign from the state executive council, which was reported in The Star today.

But PAS has disputed the report.

Iskandar told The Malaysian Insight that there had been no such request by Azmin.

“There was no instruction. I did not get any instructions,” he said, adding that the meeting between Azmin and the PAS excos from PAS was “all good”.

On the future of the sole PAS rep in Penang, Permatang Pasir assemblyman Mohd Salleh Man, Lim said the former remained a strong supporter of the Pakatan Harapan government.

“He supports the state and my leadership as chief minister. We have no doubt of his loyalty and support.

“Looking at PAS now, Salleh is confused just like everyone else.

Lim said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang must be “lost” if he thought he could keep his men on the Selangor state executive council.

“It’s worst having a leader who doesn’t know he is confused, and who is incapable of telling friend from foe,” said Lim.

Lim added that Salleh had also been boycotted and sidelined by his own party.

“He is like an orphan now,” he said of the quiet, non-confrontational PAS rep.

Salleh recently told The Malaysian Insight that his main concern was to serve his constituents until the end of the term.

Despite the hostility between PAS and the DAP-led Penang administration, Salleh had said he had no problems working with his DAP and PKR colleagues. – May 13, 2017.
