DR Mahathir Mohamad’s apology for past wrongs is an honourable act by a statesman, said Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.

“He has apologised to all and said that as a normal human being, he has made mistakes.

This comes from a statesman who is humble enough to accept that he has made mistakes and is wiling to apologise.

“I view this as a very dignified and honourable act,” he said in his winding-up speech at the party’s inaugural annual general meeting in Shah Alam.

Bersatu chairman Dr Mahathir earlier today apologised “for all the wrongs” he had done, towards the end of his policy speech at the assembly.

It was the first time the former prime minister, who has been criticised for clamping down on freedoms and eroding institutional independence during his 22-year rule, has explicitly apologised.

Muhyiddin also called on Bersatu members to remain focused on winning the next general election, and channel all efforts towards mobilising the party’s machinery to secure wins for the party and its partners in Pakatan Harapan.

“If we do this, we can end Najib Razak’s rule. Our machinery needs to work better to ensure each vote comes to us, whether it’s a PH or Bersatu candidate.

This is our time to rise and start a wave of change that is wanted by Malaysians.

“This is an excellent chance for us because the people are disgusted with Barisan Nasional and Najib’s administration.” – December 30, 2017.

  • Yes it is an honourable act as long as Tun M is sincere with his apology to Malaysian as whole with no hidden political agendas.

  • I guess the appologies has been long overdue but it is still an appologies and could be just in time. There will be many others who shall still be very sceptical and non reciprocative but what the heck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. People still have to go on living. The kleptocratic regime has got to be changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. That is the ultimate objective to save the country and allow the next generation to flourish !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The apology is long overdue - but we received it with cautious. We must not forget Tun Mahatir and the many policies he introduced - divisive, hatred, bigotry. I rather vote for BN than to support him & his cronies.
