KL school cancels classes after virus infection of 2 pupils

SK Bangsar in Kuala Lumpur has suspended classes after two cases of Covid-19 were detected among the pupils yesterday.

A school official told The Malaysian Insight the afternoon session was cancelled after it was learnt that two pupils were infected with the coronavirus.

“Pupils have been told not to attend. Right now only the staff members are in school,” he said.

“We want to take precautions.”

The school has yet to receive a directive to close from the Education Ministry.

“We are still waiting for the letter,” he said.

Harian Metro today reported that two pupils in Years Four and Five in SK Bangsar have tested positive for Covid-19.

The school’s parent-teacher association chairman Mohd Yazid Mohd Yasin said health authorities have since conducted swab tests on 80 pupils and 26 teachers who have had contact with the patients.

SK Permatang Janggus in Penaga, Penang, was closed on October 1 for eight days after a teacher contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, SMK Mutiara in Labuan, was instructed to close after a student was infected,
