THE Health Ministry will decide on what action is to be taken against Primary Industries Minister Khairuddin Aman Razali once investigations are completed, said Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The senior minister was commenting on the outrage by social media users who questioned the double-standards by the government in dealing with those who breached the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP).

Khairuddin had allegedly not observed the mandatory 14-day quarantine after he had returned from Turkey last month.

Under the National Security Council’s SOP, returnees must undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine. They are tested on arrival for the virus, and again, two weeks later.

Khairuddin had allegedly said he was tested three times for Covid-19 since his controversial trip to Turkey last month. He took the third test recently, ahead of an event at Istana Negara on August 17.

“The decision regarding the minister will not be made by me, it will be made by the Health Ministry,” said Ismail Sabri.

“It is taking some time as the investigations are still going on.”

A breach of the SOP is punishable under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act by up to two years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both, upon conviction. – August 22, 2020.

  • Why is this not a police case? Why the double standard and the disparity?

  • This is clearly a police case and he should have been charged immediately.
What is there left to investigate when the facts are already out in the open?
    Shame on Ismail Sabri. Shame.
