MUSLIM ambassadors and their embassy staff will be allowed to perform Friday prayers in mosques beginning next week, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

Surau managed by embassies will also be allowed to conduct Friday prayers.

“The Foreign Ministry will send a diplomatic note to the embassies concerned about the standard operating procedures that need to be complied with.

“However, for other Muslim foreigners, we are still discussing the issue and will reveal the decision in the near future,” he said at the ministry’s daily press conference in Putrajaya today.

He also said they agreed to allow Tahfiz School and Madrasah to open based on the opening date of the schools to be announced by the Education Ministry soon.

“Only registered Tahfiz schools and colleges are allowed to open and must comply with the Health Ministry SOP.

“Tahfiz schools with boarding facilities are required to comply with the SOP of boarding schools.”

As for unregistered Tahfiz Schools and Madrasahs, Ismail Sabri said they must apply to the state religious authority for permission. – June 26, 2020.

  • Why cant we hold on for a while longer? No urgency. They can pray at their embassy surau for the time being as theyve done since March.
