AUTHORITIES will act against those who forge Covid-19 test results, said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“We encourage the public to come forward and report to the Health Ministry or the police if there is a suspicious (case),” he told the press today.

Action will be taken according to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act.

“We will take action and the police, too, will act,” he said.

The Health Ministry has the data on results of all tests conducted at both private and government healthcare facilities, he added.

Noor Hisham was commenting on recent police action on a syndicate forging Covid-19 test results.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Mazlan Lazim said two Bangladeshi men were arrested during raids in Jalan Alor on June 5.

On the case of Pakistani barber who made house calls and tested positive for Covid-19, Noor Hisham said the close contacts including customers have been traced.

“The barber had provided the door-to-door barber service illegally before standard operating procedures were released.

“The barber had provided the service before his test results came back,” he added. 

As of now, he said there is no cluster from the case, as there has only been one positive case. 

Noor Hisham yesterday confirmed the case following notification by the Titiwangsa health office that the Kuala Lumpur-based barber, who lives in Setapak, had been sent for treatment at the Sg Buloh Hospital. – June 13, 2020.
