TAMAN Desa Bakti and Taman Wilayah in Selayang were put in lockdown at around 1am today, said Batu MP P. Prabakaran.
He told The Malaysian Insight he would be visiting the two housing estates about 2pm today.
Prabakaran said he has been in touch with the residents.
“They are all worried. But I was able to calm some of them down and explain to them that this lockdown is for the betterment of the country,” he said.
An enhanced movement control order (EMCO) was also issued today for Jalan Raja Bot, near Chow Kit market.
Army personnel were seen late yesterday night putting up razor wire barricades in the three areas.
The three areas in Kuala Lumpur were locked down as containment measures were relaxed yesterday across the country with nearly all industries given the green light to start work.
Meanwhile, the EMCO in four areas in Selayang and northern Kuala Lumpur, which was to have ended yesterday, has been extended to May 12.
The four areas still in lockdown are Taman Sri Murni Fasa 2, Jalan 1/2D; Taman Sri Murni Fasa 1, Jalan 1/2D; Taman Sri Murni Fasa 3, Jalan 1/2B; and Taman Batu View and Taman Batu Hampar.
Also in Selayang, the lockdown order was lifted in Jalan 2/3A, Jalan 6/3A and Jalan 9/3A in Pusat Bandar Utara.
The EMCO also ended on Sunday for the Malayan and Selangor Mansions, Menara City One, and the Masjid India area.
In Hulu Langat, Selangor, the An-Nabawiyyah tahfiz school and the Batu 23 area in Sg Lui are no longer locked down.
Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said that the EMCO would henceforth be applied locally in the areas with a virus outbreak. – May 5, 2020.
