THE Federal Territories Ministry is launching a “Light it Blue” campaign to show its appreciation to front-liners on Labour Day by illuminating buildings and premises around the city. 

Its minister Annuar Musa also wants city folk to participate in thanking the frontliners by lighting up their homes.

“We are inviting those who can light up their homes to do it with the colour blue. 

“The reason we choose the colour blue is because it is the colour of the nurses’ uniform and those in the medical profession,” he said at the ministry’s daily press conference today. 

He also said their appreciation goes out to the police, army, hospital staff, DBKL workers, Welfare Department and all the other agencies that are involved in fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.

Among the building managements who have said they will participate in the campaign are Saloma Link, KLCC Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur City Tower and City Hall (DBKL) headquarters and buildings in Putrajaya.

Annuar said they would also like mosques, churches and temples to participate if they have their own lighting system. 

He said they can start lighting up their areas for three days from April 30 to May 2. 

“They can light up on the first day (April 30) at 10.30pm to 1am. 

“This is important for the federal territories folks or all Malaysians if they want to participate to show their appreciation for the front-liners,” he said.

Annuar said front-liners deserve the recognition for their sacrifice, time and energy in helping the victims. 

“We are at a loss of words on how to thank them for all their work, this is one way. So, we dedicate this campaign to them. 

“This dedication also goes out to other front-liners around the country and around the world.”

As of yesterday, Malaysia had recorded a total of 5,305 Covid-19 cases, while the death toll stands at 88.

The two latest fatalities were a Malaysian and a Myanmar national. – April 19, 2020.
