PAS will be the kingmaker in the 14th general election as long as its members showed absolute loyalty to the president and Shura Council. 

PAS members should have absolute faith in Abdul Hadi Awang and the council to make decisions, such as Tahaluf Siyasi (political cooperation) with PKR, said Shura Council secretary Nik Mohd Zawawi Salleh.

“Our party will be the kingmaker, a respectable party that can determine the direction of the government in our country or our party will be the government.

“After the muktamar, we can resolve our concerns, by giving our absolute loyalty (wala’) to the president and Shura Council to set the direction of the party in facing the 14th general election,” he said at the party’s 63rd muktamar (assembly) in Alor Star, Kedah.

He said PAS members should also allow Hadi to make unpopular decisions nor criticise the council if it decides to end ties with PKR. 

“After the muktamar, (we need) to translate our wala’ to action,” he said adding that the motion on Tahaluf Siyasi with PKR will be discussed soon. 

The motion to end ties with PKR, accepted unanimously by the delegates yesterday, cited reasons, such as the latter’s support for splinter party, Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) in the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-elections and failure to support RUU355. – May 1, 2017.
