AFTER days of PKR-bashing, a senior PAS leader today admitted there could be a fallout from the imminent break up with its long-time ally.
The consequences would depend on how the party prepares for the possibility of a break-up after the party’s muktamar passed a motion to split with PKR yesterday, said vice-president Mohamad Amar Abdullah.
The decision to split from PKR must still be validated by the party’s Syura Council, a body of the party’s most senior Muslim scholars who determine whether PAS’s policies are in line with Islam.
“But we must prepare before the Majlis Syura decision. There will be positive and negative impacts from this decision and they depend on how prepared we are.
“I urge everyone to prepare for such an eventuality, especially in states where we work closely with PKR, such as Selangor,” said Amar.
PAS’s muktamar accepted a motion from its members to end the party’s 19-year relationship with PKR over the latter’s insults and breaches of the terms of their cooperation.
The decision could see PAS resign from its posts in the Pakatan Harapan Selangor government, which is being helmed by PKR and DAP. – May 1, 2017.
