ALL Malaysians returning to the country from overseas will be put under enforced quarantine in government facilities tomorrow onwards, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“Everyone arriving will be taken in special buses to quarantine centres,” the senior minister told a news conference in Putrajaya today.

“There are specific teams overseeing specific quarantine zones,” he said, adding that those who are taken there “need not worry” as food and security will be provided.

“The task forces will be following standard operating procedures.”

The quarantine period will be 14 days, he said.

“Everyone, regardless if they are citizens or not, will be quarantined.

“It won’t be just at KLIA, but at all port of entries. Everyone who enters Malaysia, whether through Johor Baru or entry points in the northern states or Sabah and Sarawak, will be quarantined.”

As of yesterday, out of the 2,908 positive cases, 45 people have died from the coronavirus. Two Covid-19 fatalities were reported yesterday.

The movement control order, which was originally slated to end on March 31, was extended to April 14 as new cases continue to emerge despite movement restrictions being imposed nationwide.

Ismail also said Putrajaya has yet to decide on whether to extend the MCO. – April 2, 2020.
