MORE attention has been given to states such as Kelantan by the current administration compared with the previous Barisan Nasional government, said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.
“If you look at what the government is doing, especially the prime minister… he has actually given more attention to these (opposition) states than the previous government.
“I think if you look at the attention and the funding given, it is much more than the previous government,” he told a press conference in Putrajaya today.
He was responding to Zaid Ibrahim’s statement that the Malays in PAS-controlled Kelantan may see DAP in a different light if more development funds are channelled to the east coast state.
Zaid had told Malaysiakini that channelling more development funds and infrastructure projects could help the Malays in Kelantan improve their lives and see change in their surroundings.
“When that happens, they will see the world and DAP in a different light. When the state has more facilities, people will believe me when I tell them that Pakatan Harapan is a progressive government and political coalition.
Zaid, a former law minister, was recently appointed Kelantan DAP chairman.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said in September when announcing the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 that increasing incomes in poorer states, such as Kelantan, Perlis and Kedah, will be one of the focuses of the roadmap. – January 14, 2020.
