POLICE have tested the so-called ‘Datuk Seri’ who allegedly beat up three men from the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) positive for drugs said Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim.

Noor Rashid said the 29-year-old man is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt.

“We have also remanded him for an investigation, we have found that he has a record for taking drugs… and that his urine test is positive(for drugs) and will take action under the Dangerous Drug Act,” he told reporters during the Deepavali celebration at Kuala Lumpur Contingent Police Headquarters.

He also said the man had surrendered himself to the police yesterday and has been remanded for four days starting yesterday.

This came after Selangor Criminal Investigation Department head SAC Fadzil Ahmat urged the 29-year-old man to surrender himself.

The three Rela men were monitoring traffic during an event at a temple on Jalan Ampang and had told the ‘Datuk Seri’ that his car was blocking a road near the temple, to which he then allegedly accused them of not respecting him, causing the altercation.

Noor Rashid added that police will investigate the source of his title and act accordingly.

“And we will look at other aspects and see if he has violated the law, it is under investigation now,” he said.

The three Rela members who were involved in the incident are set to be presented with commendation letters for their professionalism in handling the situation. – November 1, 2017.
