AN Umno delegate today urged its lawmakers to conduct themselves with dignity and to stop asking Pakatan Harapan for projects in their constituency.

Bukit Gelugor Umno division chief Omar Faudzar said when PAS and PKR were opposition, they did not ask for any project from the former Barisan Nasional administration.

“We only have been 18 months in the opposition but they (PAS and PKR) have been opposition for many years but never asked for any allocation from Umno. Never.

“Where is the integrity of the Umno members? Where is the dignity of the Umno leaders?” he said during the Umno general assembly debate at Putra World Trade Centre.

Though he did not say it, Omar was referring to Umno MPs who met Mohamed Azmin Ali to talk about projects last month.

Last month, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the meeting between BN lawmakers and Azmin was to discuss government projects in their constituencies.

Zahid said news of the meeting at the economic affairs minister’s Putrajaya residence has upset the grassroots and supporters, fresh from BN’s big win in the Tg Piai by-election on November 16.

Omar said Umno members must have principles.

“When we in are in the party we have to follow what our president (Zahid) says. If not, then just leave.”

Zahid hsaid Umno’s disciplinary board received complaints about the meeting, adding that the party’s top leaders will leave it to the board to decide on the appropriate action against the lawmakers at Azmin’s home. – December 7, 2019.
