THE meeting between Barisan Nasional MPs and Mohamed Azmin Ali last night was to discuss the country’s future, said Kamarudin Jaafar.
The PKR central leadership council member said the meet never discussed ways to keep Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in office.
“There was nothing specific. We discussed the future of the country. The need for unity, to reduce politicking among politicians, and to focus on development and providing a stable political environment,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.
The deputy transport minister said the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030, launched by the government recently, was also discussed, and this was why BN lawmakers were invited to the economic affairs minister’s Putrajaya home.
Kamarudin was among five MPs from PKR who attended the meeting.
He said 17 BN parliamentarians were present.
Meanwhile, Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin denied claims that he attended the meeting.
The Sabah Umno liaison chief said, however, he received an invitation.
“Yes, I was invited. It was made verbally. But I had other matters to attend to, so I didn’t go.”
Earlier today, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said Azmin, his deputy, should explain the meeting as it has set tongues wagging.
“Of course we will ask for an explanation from him, because the meeting has raised a lot of questions. He should explain.” – November 19, 2019.
